AsSalamu Alaikum.
Araada is form IV verb. The Original three-letter form I verb is Raada. Then hamza was added to make Araada, which is a four letter form IV verb. رادَ -----> أرادَ Ishtaraa is form VIII verb. The original three-letter form I verb is Shara'a. Then it is converted to five letter verb Ishtaraa. شَرَى-----> ٱشتَرَى You may like to see pages 35 - 37 of the Handout. Form I: فَعلَ Form IV: أَفْعَلَ Form VIII: اِفْتَعَلَ is that what you meant by "وزن scales" ?? ![]() P.S: I've just notice that we were in book 2 session. I don't know where you are in book 2, but Ustadh Assif tackles all the abouab of mazid thulathi verbs in detail at the end of his lectures of book 2

Jazaakallah khayr,
But I am not fully getting it as أراد doesn't fit with any of these Forms I: فَعلَ Form IV: أَفْعَلَ Form VIII: اِفْتَعَلَ In form IV fa kaliamh has sukoon but in أراد , ر has a fatah |
