Default L D S stands for Long Distance Students !!!

Assalamu Alaikum,

Follows an extract of emails between Br Asif and some of LDS:

Assalaamu 'Alaykum Brother Irshad Naseem,

Thanks for your email.

L D S stands for Long Distance Students !!!

These initials were coined by the students of Madina Books themselves who were studying Madina Books through the medium of Internet. They started writing to LQToronto that " I am your Long Distance Student" !!!!

Now we refer to all the students of Arabic throughout the world as LDS, who are studying via internet or by purchasing DVDs and learning Arabic in the comfort of their homes at their own convenient time. Al Hamdulillah.

It seems that the long distance students from all over the world have evolved into a big family of students who desire to learn the language of the Qur'an through Madina Books in order to understand the Qur'an in its original text - the chosen words of Allah swt. Al Hamdulillah.

Brother Irshad you are also a LDS !

May Allah swt bestow on all of us the knowledge of the language of the Qur'an and thereby deeper understanding of the message of the Qur'an and thereby insha Allah nearness to the Qur'an and nearness to Allah swt and ultimately we all become the recipients of the "PLEASURE OF ALLAH swt". Ameen.

Wassalaam,

Your brother in Islam,

Asif

Assalaamu 'Alaykum Brothers Sisters,

Whenever LQToronto receives a letter from a LDS in which the writer talks about
his struggles to learn Arabic; his various stints to find a beneficial and
useful source to learn Arabic and finally - oh yes finally - the discovery of
Madina Books and its DVDs, I feel that you should read that letter to feel and
share the joy, excitement and enthusiasm of the LDS.

Insha Allah you will find this a very interesting reading.

Wassalaam,

Your brother in Islam,
Asif

Wa'Alaykumus Salaam Brother Yasir Mahar,

Jazaakallahu Khairan for your email; your generous and kind Duas and words of appreciations.

Truly speaking "All Praise Belongs to ALLAH swt ONLY".

About 10 years ago, few like minded brothers and sisters got together and came up with the idea and funds to establish "The institute of the Language of the Qur'an" with two objectives in mind:

1) to hold Arabic classes in Toronto specifically to learn Arabic from Madina Books authored by our esteemed Doctor Abdur Rahim.

2) to import Islamic Books, Masaahif and books related to the learning of Arabic Langauge and sale them at COST PRICE so that the students and families can easily afford them without being burdened with high prices of books prevalent in the commercial bookstores.

Al Hamdulillah - since then, year after year, we have grown and flourished with the mercy of Allah swt and the benefits have been realized and are being realized by hundreds of students and families.

In the year 2007/2008, some students conceived the idea of video tapping the class lectures so that those students, who were missing classes due to some unavoidable circumstances, could watch the DVDs at home and bring themselves up to date with the progress of the class.

The whole project of producing DVDs was a massive joint effort of many brothers and sisters who sacrificed their time, efforts and money in the production of the DVDS. It was all undertaken for the love of Arabic and for the love of the Qur'an.

Once the DVDs were produced then Brother <A>, also a teacher of Madina Books, and his son <B>, spearheaded the project of creating the website and uploading all the DVDs for watching and downloading FREE OF CHARGE.

We have a support team consisting of many brothers and sisters, headed by Brother <A>. We all work voluntarily to look after the various activities of the institution, namely website, online sale, bookstore and teaching Arabic etc, etc.

We bow down to Allah swt in humbleness and humility and thank him immensely for making this project beneficial to so many brothers and sisters all over the world, who seek to learn the language of the Qur'an.

Doctor Abdur Rahim is our guide, our mentor and our teacher from day one of our establishment.

The name of our institution "The Institute of the Language of the Qur'an" was coined by him; and so also our Logo "LQ" !! Al Hamdulillah.

(Please see the actual LOGO in the attachment which Doctor Abdur Rahim sent to us from Madina. He designed it to be put on the DVDs and on our website !! Al Hamdulillah.)

Every second year we invite him to visit us in Toronto. He meets all the students who have completed the course and presents them with certificates.

He conducts advance classes for the graduate students of the Three Madina Books and inspires us to carry on the torch of spreading the learning of Arabic among Muslims everywhere in the world insha Allah.

This is all for your information.
Insha Allah we will stay in touch.

Jazaakallahu Khairan for your kind offer to contribute funds towards our project. But Al Hamdulillah, we are self sufficient fund-wise. Our support team, Maa Shaa Allah, is very kind and generous and they look after the needs of the institution very well.

May Allah swt bless you with the knowledge of the language of the Qur'an and thereby deeper understand of the message of the Qur'an and thereby nearness to the Qur'an and nearness to Allah swt and finally obtaining the PLEASURE OF ALLAH swt. Ameen.

Wassalaam,

Yours brother in Islam
Asif

As-salaamu 'Alaikum,

I wanted to express my immense gratitude for putting these classes online and making them available.

I have been struggling to find resources to learn Arabic, and masha' Allah these videos are great mercy from Allah.

I went through the first half of the first book with a teacher, and as I am reviewing the material via your videos, I am learning many things that I did not learn before.

It is very difficult to teach a language for 2-2.5 hours straight and keep the attention of your audience, but the brother does an amazing job and explains the material very well.

May Allah reward you all immensely for your efforts.

Please let me know if I can contribute towards the cost of this project.

Anyone who is studying the course but not getting regular e-mails from the institute could perhaps e-mail the institute and ask to be put on the mailing list. The e-mails are interesting and encouraging.
