Default verb جاء

Assalamualaykum,

Please can someone explain why when making this verb majzoom (prefixing it with lam) it is يَجِيء (according to the handout pg 28).
Why has the ya not been dropped as there is a meeting of 2 sakoons, so the weak letter ya should have been dropped.

thanks.

Waalikum Assalam

This is not what is in page 28 of the handout.

The 'ya' has been dropped. What you see is the kusi (chair) of the hamza. Notice that this chair does not have the dots (like 'ya' has) and the hamza is right above it.
What is there is:
لَمْ يَجِئْ
Also notice that for mansub nothing is dropped and we can see the 'ya' with the dots and the hamza is brave to stand without a chair next to ya (not above it):

لَنْ يَجِيءَ

I hope this clarifies.
