Asslamo Aleikum,
I understand AL-YAUMOO is a ZARF ZAMAAN - meaning TODAY - and everything in its original form is MARFOO. Would anyone please help me understand, In Book 2, Lesson 6, Lines 5 & 6, why Al-Yaumaa is Mansoob? Thanks & Regards, Mudassir Saeed |

'aleika salâm wa rahmatoullâh wa barakâtouh,
you'll learn in detail (book 3) that as a Dharf, al-yam, has to be mansub. I would say "take it as it is" . But as I know that it might be frustrating to hear/read such kind of explanation, i'll give you a little bite more explanations.More preciselly, you'll learn inchaAllah, that when it comes as a Dharf, it is also name "maf3ouloun fihi", and as all the "mafou3ouloun" (like maf3ouloun bihi), it has to be mansoub. Please, just think that the word al-yama, is somehow connected/linked to the verb "qara-a" mentionned in the sentence. It (the dharf/maf3ouloun fihi) gives a kind "time-frame" or time-indication (it is indeed a Dharf zamân) in within which the action or reading (fi3l "qara-a") is done. That's the reason why it is mansoub. Got it I hope.
